The good news is, there are many ways we supply you with your manuals.

Evolution of Formats

It’s important to understand that the type of manuals Okuma produces have continuously evolved over time. In the beginning they were hand-drawn electrical drawings on tracing paper that were blueprinted, and the operator’s manuals were typed on an actual typewriter. Hence we provided hard copies only. Then the computer age came, and the drawings were created in CAD format and the manuals typed in a word processor program. These manual files were considered huge at the time, so hard copies were still provided. Manual Support at the Ready

With our many generations of controls and our wide variety of machine models, plus all the options Okuma offers, it complicates the process of determining the unique combination of control + machine + options you have in your shop. Okuma and our distributors feel it’s much more important to take the time to review what your machine has from the factory, as well as the optional features you have purchased, and provide you with manuals that specifically cover what you’re using. Okuma and distributors have support people ready and able to get you either electronic copies, DVDs or hard copies of any manual for your machine tool. When you request a manual we also like to take the time to make sure you’re getting the manual that will answer your question best and not require you to figure out which manual has what information and if a generic manual post online will fit your machine.

When you need a manual, the best place to start is by contacting your local distributor. Here are some of the most common types you can request:

• Electrical Drawings – These are the machine schematics for the base version of your machine and control.
• Optional Electrical Drawings – All the optional features that are specialized to fit your machine as per your purchase specifications.
• Parts Book – Exploded view of the mechanical subcomponents and part number lists for your machine.
• Programming Manual – All the standard G and M codes for programming a machine along with the more complex machine movements.
• Alarm & Error List – The control-generated alarms that appear on the display are broken down in this manual.
• Operation Manual – Basic operation of the machine, similar to a “Getting Started” guide for the machine. Provides instruction on how to start, move, and perform all the basic machine tool functions.
• Operation & Maintenance Manual – This manual provides the general care for the machine. From changing the fluids, to which parts should be replaced for preventive maintenance.
